Proofreading

Already have an editor who does great work for you? Fantastic.

Proofreading

But that’s only the first step of the production process. We can provide a fresh set of eyes on your project and get you one step closer to the quality read you strive to give your readers.

My proofing service is basically traditional copyediting. To distinguish it from line editing, which is the comprehensive editing service, I call the copyediting service proofreading. I’ve also found over the years that many people tend to use the terms copyediting and proofreading interchangeably, so it can be confusing for authors comparing services. To that end, always look over what’s included in a service (regardless of what it’s called) to make sure it includes what you need. Proofreading at Victory Editing is done within the manuscript using Track Changes and Comments. We look for the following:

  • Grammar and punctuation issues
  • Misspellings, usage errors, and clarity in your writing

Pricing is based on an assessment of your project. Send me a portion of your book and I’ll be able to give you a quote for your entire project. Per word pricing is only a guideline.

This is offered as a convenience to you so that you can get a ballpark figure for your project without having to contact me (unless you want to!) I’m happy to answer questions and discuss projects, but I personally dislike having to contact someone just to get an idea of pricing, so I don’t want to subject you to that 🙂

Note: Proofreading is provided by one of my assistants.

Pricing Guidelines

  • Starting at $.0063 per word. Varies depending on project. Sample required for quote.
